Trevor Grimshaw was born in Hyde Cheshire in 1947. From childhood through to adulthood he had a passion for locomotives, steam trains, which were reflected in some of his work as were Industrial Scenes. He spent much of his career at Stowe Bowden Ltd a leading Manchester based advertising agency.

Trevor Grimshaw was a well-known artist who after his training at Stockport College of Art from 1963-1968 exhibited widely (including at the Royal Scottish Academy and The Royal Academy in the 1970’s as well as further a field in both Germany and the USA. He was mainly known as an artist who had a unique style of using oils, charcoal and graphite to produce stylised images of Northern industrial landscapes, many of which were monochrome. His black and grey graphite works of post industrial Britain are his most celebrated and desirable works and he has artworks incorporated in some well-known private collections like that of L S Lowry and Edward Heath. Trevor Grimshaw also illustrated a book of poems called The Singing Street by Mike Harding, which is well worth obtaining if you like this artists work. Sadly the artist died in a house fire in 2001 after becoming a reclusive shadow of his former-self.
